  • Congratulations to the girls hockey team who finished off their 2022-2023 season with a 7-2 win over Millwood. Georgia Stevens and Hailey Dowling each scored a pair of goals and Grace Driscoll, Kaitlyn Dowling and Makenzie Foote each added one.
  • The Youth Health Centre is open today- members of the Health Action Team are invited to meet our community health board coordinator to discuss the importance of youth repenting health gaps our region. She is  hoping to meeting potential new board members. Great opportunity for community involvement. If you are not presently a member but are interested come along.
  • Library News: This February, the library will be participating in Coins for Books. Tomorrow February 10th, the Library will be selling ice cream and candy bags in the cafeteria. All monies received will be used to purchase new books for the library.
  • Are you interested in practicing Martial Arts? Sure you are. Mr. Hennebury will be running the martial arts club on day A of the schedule this semester. This time will be used to learn and practice Judo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Kickboxing techniques for self-defence. All participants must be in good standing with the school community and have their parents sign a consent form. We meet in the fitness room (202) next to the gymnasium.
  • Girls Rugby- Come learn a new sport!! Practices will be held every Tuesday and Thursday after school in the gym. New players are welcome and encouraged to come give it a try!
  • Attention Judges! Next week from the 13th to the 17th is our valentine’s spirit week. On Monday we’ll show love for our favourite sports team by wearing our team rep. Send pictures of you at school in your jersey, not one of our school teams, and the most repped team will get a mural on our walls. Tuesday is valentines colours wear pink white and red. On Wednesday we’ll be dressing up like our favourite rom com character. On Thursday we dress to impress, how would dress for that special someone? Ending on Friday where we show love for Jl and wear our school colour.
  • There is a 10 week film club led by professional filmmaker Raphael MacDonald. Members will have the opportunity to write a short script and the group will be supported through the process of producing, filming and editing a finished project. We will meet after school  until 5:30 on Tuesdays. The group is accepting new members for 2 more weeks.
  • Were you hoping to get a 2023 Yearbook? The deadline to purchase a yearbook is March 1st, 2023. If you want a Yearbook, you must buy it before this date. You can purchase a Yearbook online at the Yearbook store. A link to this is on the JL Ilsley website. You can also purchase a Yearbook at the office with Ms. Amy.  Again the deadline is March 1, 2023.
