  • Library News:The Library Crew will be meeting today in the 2nd Floor Library at lunch.
  • Reminder that there is an Equity committee meeting at lunch today (as they have now switched to Mondays) in room 234. That's an Equity meeting today at lunch in Ms. Holland's room (across from the learning center). New members, staff and students are welcome!
  • Saturday was the third day of Hanukkah and Sunday was the fourth and so two more candles will have been be lit. Traditional food is very important for all festivals. Some common foods eaten during Hanukkah are latkes, which are fried potato pancakes, and sufganiyot [suf-ganny-ot], which are jelly donuts. Yum! Giving gifts, which may include money, is another common tradition used to celebrate Hanukkah.
  • This week is our Extended Holiday Spirit Week. Today is Disney Day, tomorrow is Adam Sandler Day, Wednesday is Monochrome Day, Thursday is Ugly Sweater Day, and Friday is PJ day. Monday the 18th is Flannel Day, Tuesday the 19th is Holiday Colours day, and Wednesday the 20th is Anything But A Backpack day.
  • Students' Council is hoping to run our annual Holiday Talent Show on the afternoon of December 20th (the last day of school before the break). The only way this can happen is if we have enough Judges willing to perform. If you are interested in performing, there is a sign up sheet on Mr. Burbridge's door (room 326) Signup must be done by December 15th and all performers must be at a meeting Monday Dec 18th at lunch. All students and staff are welcome to perform. Let's get in the holiday spirit Judges and end 2023 with an entertaining afternoon.

  • -Our Indigenous fact is: In the daily lives of the Mi'kmaq pople, children are a part of hte adult world by being an active listener and participating in it. They are included on all activities of the community and seen at all social functions. Children are encouraged to search. explore., and discover their world.

  • “The JL Ilsley Rotary Interact Club is working with Student Council to gather donations and holding a Hat and Mitten Drive for children in need. We will have a box in the main office for any donations you may have of hats and mittens that can be donated to children in December. Please be generous and donate to the children. If you have an interest in joining the JL Ilsley Interact Club for our community projects, please leave your info on the sign up sheet in the main office.”
  • The wait is finally over! All interested in helping out in any shape or form for this year's musical are now asked to sign-up using the QR code that can be found on posters all around the school!
