  • The weight room will be open for work out club Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunch. Your permission forms must be signed before participating.
  • Girls' Field Hockey tryouts are coming up! Our first is today from 5:30pm-7:00pm and Wednesday February 14th from 5:30-7:00pm. Please bring sneakers, shin pads, and a mouth guard. Sticks will be provided. All tryouts are in the gym and no experience is required!
  • “this valentine’s student council, will be bringing back candy and flower grams. they will be selling until tuesday the 13th in the cafeteria. 2.00 for candy, 2.50 for a flower. senders must know the recipients block 4 and block 1 classes. let’s spread the love!”
  • There will be a library crew meeting today at lunch in the 2nd Floor Library.
  • Josh from University of King's College will be here today at lunch time in the main lobby to meet with students. If you are interested in attending King's or learning more about their programs stop by and see them.
  • Alex from St. Thomas University will be here Tuesday, Feb 13th at lunch time in the main lobby to meet with students. If you are interested in attending STU or want to learn more about the programs they offer, stop by and see them.
  • Today is International Day of Women & Girls in Science. It is meant to celebrate how far women have come in the male dominated fields of science and technology, as well as advocate for equality. Make sure to encourage your female friends who are interested in the sciences. Some book recommendations featuring strong women in science are Hidden Figures and Lessons in Chemistry. You can also find their film adaptations.
  • Mothers against drunk driving will be hosting a prom dress drive on February 24th from 9am - 9pm and February 25th from 12pm-5pm at Mic Mac Mall. All dresses will be $30.
  • The deadline to apply for JL In-school scholarships is this Wednesday, February 14. It's easy to aply - simply fill out the google form link in the Class of 2024 Google Classroom. Everyone is encouraged to apply!
  • The Mi'kmaq phrase for the week is: "Taluisin ki'l?" (pronounced: dell-00-wiss-in geil?) and it means "What's your name?"

  • The Indigenous quote for the week is: "...We must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations..." -an Iroquois Maxim. The interesting thing about this quote is that ALL INDIGENOUS NATIONS share in this belief and have the same, or very similar, statement as a core value.
  • February 14 is Have A Heart Day. Have a Heart Day has been acknowledged since 2012. It was created by the First Nations Child and Caring Society. Have a Heart Day is a child and youth led event with the purpose of helping to ensure that Indigenous Children and youth have the opportunity to grow up in a safe environment, are able to get an education, and feel good about who they are as people.

  • Academic Awards for 2022-23 students will be Feb 15th 9:20-10:20 in the cafeteria. Students have been sent an invite via their email. If you did not receive an email and you had a 80% plus average, please check the list posted in Guidance. Grade 9 students average 75% in their 4 core subjects (Math, English, Science and Citizenship). If you are not on the posted list and you still believe you should receive an Academic Award email Ms Nickerson and she will check. knickerson@hrce.ca
